FAQs for Recreational Program
Top Questions:
I’ve registered but I haven’t heard from anyone about my team. When will I know what team my child is on and when the games/practices are scheduled?
- If you’ve received a confirmation email after registration, you are officially registered. Once your child is assigned to a team, the coach will contact you about practice and game schedules. You will generally hear from the coach by phone or email the week before the coaches meeting for existing teams and the week after the coaches meeting for new teams. Kindergarten and Pre-k teams may not be finalized until the week before the first games of the season because we generally do not have final volunteer coaches until then. If you haven’t heard from your coach, contact info@brooksidesoccer.org for help.
Can my child play in a higher or lower division than their grade in school?
- Players may play in one grade division higher than the child’s grade division. Players are not allowed to play in a lower division than their grade in school, unless they are a year younger than the age range for that grade. Check with the division coordinator of the division you’d like to play in if you’re unsure about moving to a different division.

League Registration
When do I need to register my child? Visit our Register page to find out more info.
How do we register? Registration is available online. Visit our new Register page to find out more info. You may also register in person at the walk-in dates.
What age group should my child be in? Divisions are determined by the current grade level of your child. If your daughter is in second grade, choose “2nd Grade Girls” when you register.
What happened to the age-based divisions (U6,U7,U8 etc.)? Age-based divisions work well for keeping teams even, but cause problems when kids can’t play with classmates. Switching to grade level classifications should also eliminate some confusion, which generally causes last minute shuffling of players, and helps simplify the team-building process for our division coordinators. We generally refer to divisions by age and list the “Under X” division name as well as a reference.
Does my child need previous soccer knowledge? No. BSC focuses on teaching soccer in a fun and safe environment. We make every effort to make certain teams are balanced with kids of all skill and athletic ability. It’s also part of our requirements that every child receive equal playing time – it’s the best way to learn!
Do I pick a team to join? What if we don’t know other coaches or kids playing? You do not need to pick a team or know a coach. If you like, you may designate your child’s school or a preferred coach when you register, and we’ll make an effort to place him or her on a team with classmates.
How much does it cost? $50 per child. The third child from a single household is $25. Additional children are $5 per child. If you register after the end of the early-bird registration period, you pay more, $65 per child, $40 for the second and $15 for each additional child.
What types of payment are accepted? Visa, Mastercard and Discover are accepted through online registration. Cash, money order and personal check are only accepted when you register in-person.
What do I get for that fee? The registration fee provides each child with a fun, safe and fair soccer experience. As part of that experience, each player receives a uniform that they keep, and they will play in at least seven games. New uniforms are distributed in the Fall season. The same uniform is used in the Spring season. Uniforms for players in the 1st Grade divisions and higher include a jersey, shorts and socks. Uniforms for players in the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten divisions include a reversible jersey.
What if I forgot to register my child by the cut-off date? We close registration so coordinators can finalize team rosters and distribute to coaches one week later. If you register after the early-bird cutoff date you will pay more: $70 per child ($80 for High School division), $70 for the second and $45 for the third, and $25 for each additional child. We do not accept registrations after the official closing date unless there are extenuating circumstances.
