History

The Brookside Soccer Club is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization that is passionate about providing a fair, fun and safe environment to help the Kansas City area youth from 4 to 18 years of age grow through playing soccer. The Brookside Soccer Club’s mission is to deliver quality youth soccer programs that build positive character through participation in a fun, family-oriented soccer environment.

Since originally founded in 1977, the Brookside Soccer Club has continued to grow to support the increased need for recreational soccer in the KC community. From the league’s humble beginnings that constituted just a couple of dedicated fathers and 25 willing kids, the Brookside Soccer Club proudly serves nearly 2000 kids, that come from 80 zip codes, and attend over 110 different schools. Along with our wonderful kids, we have over 200 volunteer coaches and over 70 trained referees. Oh yes, we also have over 5000 supportive and enthusiastic parents and spectators who enjoy the games each weekend.

The Brookside Soccer Club is also pleased to be an on-going partner with the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department. Together we continue to work to coordinate local public relations efforts and outreach to help expand the community’s soccer audience and reach many economically disadvantaged portions of the community.

In 2004, the Brookside Soccer Club moved our club’s games to Swope Park. BSC is also proud that our tenure at Swope Park has been a positive catalyst to the increased use and revitalization of an historic, inner-city area of the park. In addition we are proud of our on-going partnership with the Sporting KC, who graciously share a portion of their beautiful training facility with BSC.
