On Thursday, April 17th 115 science students from St. John Francis Junior High science classes participated in an all day environmental studies event organized by their school’s science teacher with the help of the Blue River Watershed Association (brwa), and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Each student spent 1 hour (a total of 115 man hours) picking up trash on and around the Swope Park soccer fields used by The Brookside Soccer teams. The Blue River Watershed Association provided 125 pairs of gloves and 5 large trash bags. The St. Regis students filled all the trash bags, park dumpsters and trash cans that morning. This site was selected for their work because many of these students participate on these fields weekly.
Their request of you is that everyone who uses these fields helps maintain the beauty of the area by picking up after themselves, and maybe even pick up a stray piece of trash weekly. The trash from this park makes its way into our watershed which effects the quality of the water which effects all of us.

The U-8 games will now be played on the fields just north of the U-12 fields on the east side of Lewis Road. Brookside Soccer had to relocate these games due to a field conflict with the cricket field (where the U-8 fields were located for weeks #1 and #2).
